I've uploaded mp3s of many of the songs from the actual performances. You'll find individual links as you make your way through the archive, or you may click on "soundtrack" to choose from a list of them all.

Cast and Crew List

Steve Becker pitched this as a show I should consider. One listen to the soundtrack CD and I was in love- lush, beautiful, melodic music filled with passion and humor. SOLD.

I procured a perusal, and set up a read-through with Grant at CPCT. The day came. We all sat down to read through the script and listen to the songs. The time came for the first song and… uh, wait a minute- that’s not it. Let me find it… it’s not on here. Oh well, let’s move on. 2nd song… that’s not it. What’s going on here? Steve runs home for a revival soundtrack CD. The other songs are there, as well as some others that aren’t in the script. And there’s songs on the original CD that aren’t in the script, and a song in the script that’s not on either CD…

This all should have told me something. Time for some research. Turns out this show has never done that well at the box office (this production would be no different), and therefore has been endlessly tinkered with since it’s inception. There are a seemingly infinite variety of versions. To this day there are songs credited to this or that production that I’ve never heard or seen the music to.

Well, darn it, I can tinker with the best of ‘em (in my, um, humble opinion). So, undaunted, I took my shot…

Note: I’m not blessed with anywhere near the photo coverage on this show as I was with “My Fair Lady”. The pics are not performance shots, but culled from various rehearsals. The set and costumes are in various stages of completion, and lighting is flash in many cases. The pictures don’t so much capture the show as give you a rough idea.

Sheree Wheeler-Gudeman

As

Genevieve Castanet’

The Baker’s Wife

Sheree, as always, was professional, diligent, and as prepared and disciplined as any actress (or actor) I've ever had the pleasure to work with. It's funny- I've found that the most talented actors are also the hardest working and most dedicated. Add in her talent and beauty, and there's not much she can't do. Any show is off to a great start the moment she is cast.

Darren Serhal

as

Aimable Castanet’

The Baker

Darren was great to work with: insightful, deep, really wanted to work the material and understand the character. I hope I'll get the chance to direct him again someday (assuming I ever get to direct anyone again).
