I tend to like the
epic Superman stories- 3 part imaginary novels painted on a broad canvas.
Otto Binder expanded the Superman ethos in the early 60s with three key
ideas: The Phantom Zone, the Bottle City of Kandor, and the Imaginary
Story. These three elements tied Superman to his tragic past in a vivid,
melodramatic way that allowed for a depth and richness his stories had heretofore
lacked. (Wow- that's clumsily written... but I'm in a hurry. Clean it up
later. Maybe.)
The 1st few are
readers I grabbed for a song, the quality of the books goes up significantly
from 129 on. The Annual #1 is gorgeous.
